Jennie Bucove founded Furnished Living in 2011 after seeing the poorly designed furnishings in the residence where her father had moved. Cold and institutional looking, the furnishings did little to enhance her father’s independence or to make his apartment feel like home.

“My dad had trouble rising from the only chair his residence provided. It was far too deep and too low. He was so frail that I was afraid I would hurt him when I helped him get up. I hated seeing him struggle; he’d always been so independent.”

In addition to her role in helping older adults and people with dementia maintain independence, Jennie has more than 20 years of consulting, strategy, M&A and general management experience in the media, financial services and education sectors.

Prior to launching Furnished Living™, Jennie spent ten years with The New York Times Company, where she had corporate finance, strategic planning and operational responsibilities, including helping to launch several new businesses. Earlier, Jennie spent ten years at Chase Manhattan Bank (now JPMorgan Chase & Co.) in a variety of consulting and marketing roles.

Jennie holds an MBA from Columbia University Business School. She lives in New York City with her family.

Kathy Grantham is an experienced marketing and fundraising executive and comes to Furnished Living through a long association with its founder, Jennie Bucove. She volunteers as a chaplain, and partners with her dog, Haley, in pet therapy at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey. She lives with her husband in South Orange.

Kathy served as a Vice President in Account Management at Young & Rubicam advertising agency, a Director at The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and the Deputy Director of the Advertising Educational Foundation, all in New York City. She earned an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.

and extend lifespans that are healthy.

My career in sales and marketing began when I was a Girl Scout, selling cookies door to door, the most fun job.  Throughout school, I looked for opportunities to work and earn money, and learned Spanish while living in Mexico.

After earning my degree in Media Communications from Marquette University, I became a production assistant at ABC-TV in Milwaukee.  I moved to the electric utility in Chicago from there, where I wrote and produced a television show, as well as radio and television commercials, and managed the Hispanic advertising program.  Later I played a similar role at an international bank.

 Years in the corporate arena prepared me to open my own communications company.  I continued to advise businesses in strategic marketing after moving to Seattle where I currently reside.  The best job?  Managing two start-ups who have matured into successful people:  my two daughters.
